Restaurant Inspections

Retail Food Establishment News

The Pennsylvania Chronicle covers “Out of Compliance” Retail Food Establishments in our coverage area.  The reports found on the Pennsylvania Chronicle quote verbatim specific violations explained by inspectors.

Pennsylvania has more than 26,000 restaurants, and thousands more convenience stores, grocery stores, schools and institutions subject to annual unannounced visits by the Department of Agriculture and local government inspectors in some areas.

On average there are only about 150 found a month, “Out of Compliance” by inspectors. The term, “Out of Compliance” refers to a more serious level of violation or violations found. In fact, a Retail Food Establishment may have many violations still remaining, “In Compliance” because the violations are less of a concern.
