New Holland, PA
On October 2, 2018 at approximately 6:21pm New Holland Police say they stopped a Toyota Prius on Western Avenue, near West Broad Street (New Holland Borough) for a stop sign violation. Authorities say the driver was Mark Wingerd, age 65 of New Holland.
Authorities say they issued multiple citations for traffic violations relating to the stop after which Wingerd became irate and, as the officer was getting in to his cruiser to leave, Wingerd put his car in reverse and backed up hitting the police cruiser.
Police say the officer approached the driver’s door and confronted Wingerd who drove away while the officer was confronting Wingerd. Wingerd was later stopped a short time later and taken into custody.
