Linette Villa arrested in death of her 8 year old daughter and myriad other charges
Scranton, PA- Police in Scranton announced the arrest of Linette Villa on a warrant issued in the June 25, 2017 motor vehicle crash on McDade Expressway in Scranton killing Villa’s 8 year old daughter and critically injuring her 6 year old daughter.
Scranton police allege accident reconstruction determined that Villa was driving her vehicle in excess of 85 MPH prior to the crash. Medical testing, police say further alleges, Villa had cocaine and marijuana in her system at the time of the accident.
Additionally police allege as they attempted to take Villa taken into custody on Providence Road Villa resisted police. A search subsequent to arrest found Villa in her possession of Cocaine and Xanax, police say.
For the June 25, 2017 crash Villa faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, homicide by vehicle, aggravated assault by vehicle, accidents involving death or personal injury, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, reckless driving, and driving under the influence of a controlled substance. She is additionally charged with resisting arrest and two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
Villa was processed and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Paul J. Ware and is prestently being held in the Lackawanna County Prison on$225,000 bail.
