On December 6, 2017, the Upper Allen Township Police Department responded to a fatal drug overdose in the 900 block of Gettysburg Pike. During the subsequent investigation, investigators say they learned that the victim  died from an overdose of Fentanyl which is sometimes mixed with heroin by drug dealers to increase the potency. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid drug which is approximately fifty times more potent than heroin.

Upper Allen Police identified Jayre Jackson as the person who sold the bags of Fentanyl which ultimately killed the victim.

Criminal charges were filed against Jayre Jackson, who was already incarcerated in the Dauphin County Prison. Jackson arraigned on August 23, 2018 and his bail for this case was set at $100,000. Jackson remains in custody and the preliminary hearing will be held at a later date.

Jackson has a history of convictions relating to driving under the influence in York County and minor drug charges in Dauphin County.
