Police say yesterday, Nov. 29, 2018, at 3:21pm, they were dispatched to the scene of a school bus crash where the driver of the vehicle that struck the bus attempted to flee. The driver, later identified as Ronald Warren of Kingston, was detained by good Samaritans a short distance from the scene.
Authorities took Warren into custody for suspicion of DUI after observing signs of impairment. During a search incident to arrest police say suspected heroin, prescription pills and paraphernalia were located.
Warren was subsequently transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center where he refused a blood test according to officers.
Neither the bus driver nor 14 Wilkes-Barre Area School District students were injured.
Warren is not known to have a previous criminal history, charges are pending in this matter.
