Police in York have arrested Adrian Moye following the death of a 5-year-old child in the city yesterday. Authorities say Moye who was caring for the child is now locked up without bail, charged with two counts of child endangerment and one count each of cocaine possession with intent to deliver and being a convicted felon in illegal possession of a firearm.
Detective Kyle Hower stated Moye is a repeat convicted drug dealer, with convictions on charges from 2010, 2013 and 2015.
Authorities alleged a 5-year-old and a 7-year-old were in the back of an SUV that Moye drove to the 200 block of East Philadelphia Street just after 2pm on August 21, 2019.
Surveillance footage from the block shows that Moye parked in the block at 2:08 p.m. and, less than a minute later, carried the “lifeless child” to the front porch of a home there, as a 7-year-old boy walked along with Moye, according to police.
Police say a witness overheard Moye tell the child’s mother that the boys had the gun when the 5-year-old was shot.
Mayor Michael Helfrich complained of rumors in this case as well as media coverage he said was inaccurate in this matter.
The investigation continues in this incident.
