West York Police clarify door hangers left from business building checks

York, PA

West York Borough Police issued a statement this morning after inquiries about door hangers the department leaves behind while checking businesses after hours.

The statement reads:

We received a few phone calls from business owners who were concerned that an incident occurred at their building after seeing these orange notices. Do not be alarmed, this is to notify you of a courtesy business check while our officers are on patrol during your closed hours. If “Secure” is checked, officers did not come across any alarming indicators. A phone call is not needed. If “other” is checked, officers did find a concerning indicator and will write the details on the tab. Officers will also investigate any alarming indicators.
