The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on October 21, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the McDonalds inside WalMart on Loucks Road in York was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 11 violations were found.

The restaurant failed its opening inspection last year on June 29, 2018, with 16 violations.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • The Person in Charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.
  • Observed storage tanks of shake machine having black stringy mold growth and numerous drain flies inside of mix at the time of inspection.
  • Shake machine not operating at the time of inspection and in need of repair or replacement.
  • Inside and outer areas of milk dispenser unit, a food contact surface, having a large accumulation of caked on and liquid food residue and was not clean to sight and touch.
  • The entire frozen desert unit, a food contact surface, having old food residue and was not clean to sight and touch.
  • Observed numerous refrigerator bottom shelving and door gaskets having an large accumulation of dirt and old food residue and need of cleaning at this time.
  • Food employees observed on cooks line/prep area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers.
  • Observed single-service, single-use food containers stored on the same shelving as cleaning/ sanitizer products, a prohibited area.
  • Observed in-use utensils(scoops & tongs) stored on top of warmer unit, an area not easily cleanable & sanitized.
  • Vents(traps) over-top of grill is heavily soiled with black encrusted grease build-up and in need of cleaning at this time.
  • Lid of ice machine is cracked on the inside/out and in need of repair or replacement at this time.
  • Observed hoses of soft drink storage boxes resting on the floor of the food facility at the time of inspection.
  • The food facility does not have the original certificate for the certified food employee posted in public view.
  • Observed flooring of entire food facility and walk-in refrigerator/freezer units is extremely dirty, dusty, and in need of cleaning.
  • Observed flooring underneath fryers of the food facility is extremely dirty with grease spill and in need of cleaning.
