The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on September 16, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Hong Kong Buffet on Newberry PKWY in Etters was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • The Person in Charge does not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.
  • Dried food residue on the back side of the deli slicer.
  • One live and three dead roach-like insects under the cook line. Pest control is in place. Observed pest control reports.
  • Webbing around the magnetic knife holder near the back door.
  • Dried food residue on the blade of the table mounted can opener.
  • Observed black residue around the edges inside the ice cream freezer.
  • Residue on the underside of the racks in the walk-in cooler.
  • Utensils observed in the hand wash sink at the sushi station.
  • Observed a leak under the three-bay sink.
  • Time in lieu of temperature is being used for the sushi rice with no log of time.
  • Raw chicken was stored above raw pork and beef in the walk-in cooler.
  • Observed an in-use knife stored between table edges.
