The Fairview Township Police Department say they arrested a man who pleaded guilty to Super Drunk DUI in September in York County Court of Common Pleas. 41-year old Philip M Grapes of Pleasant View Road, New Cumberland was after police were dispatched for an intoxicated male driver in his vehicle in the 400 block of Pleasant View Road, New Cumberland on December 20, 2018.
Upon arrival authorities say Grapes’ vehicle was sitting off to the right side of his driveway with the lights on. Grapes was sitting in the driver’s seat. While speaking with Grapes, the officer stated he could smell a very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Police Grapes displayed obvious signs of intoxication during field sobriety testing and was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence.
Police say they transported Grapes to UPMC Pinnacle Memorial Hospital for a blood alcohol content (BAC) test and then transported to York County Booking Center for arrest processing. The blood test was recently returned from the lab showing that Grapes’ BAC was .419%. The blood test also detected Acetone in Grapes’ blood according to police.
Formal charges in this case were filed on January 11, 2019.
