On November 12, 2018 police in Steelton Police say they conducted a traffic stop on 20 year old Esmelda Padua Rodriguez after observing her allegedly driving with a suspended license. Authorities say as officers were attempting to take her into custody for DUI-Controlled Substances Rodriguez fled the scene then crashing into a parked vehicle.
Rodriguez has been charged with fleeing and eluding police, DUI- controlled substances, recklessly endangering another person and summary violations.
Rodriguez was arrested in January of last year by Swatara Township Police for Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With
Intent to Manufacture or Deliver and other drug related charges. After a number of continuances those charges remain pending in Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas.
The Harrisburg resident has another case pending for Marijuana-Small Amt Personal Use and related drug charges from August of last year as well as a third case stemming from an arrest in October of this year also in Steelton for Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver and other related drug charges.
Following the arrest in October Rodriguez was given bail in the amount of $100,000 which was later reduced to $20,000.
The 20 year old defendant has been charged with 35 traffic offenses since January 2017 and is currently out of custody on a surety bail bond of $50,000 posted by professional bondsman Michael Gibson.
