Police in Williamsport say they made a narcotics arrest Friday November 24, 2018 after Willliamsport Bureau of Police Officer Gardner observed known a known felon on probation, 27 year old Colin Smith and two other individuals, exit a vehicle in the area of the Timberland Apartments. After they left the area officers say they approached the vehicle and observed drug paraphernalia in plain view. Searching the vehicle authorities say they found cocaine packaging material and cutting agents.
Smith was shortly thereafter located by officer Trafford and detained and searched subsequent to his arrest. Police say the search of Smith uncovered approximately 9.5 grams of individually packaged crack cocaine.
Smith was arraigned before District Justice Gary Whiteman and committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $50,000.00 bail as well as a probation detainer.
Smith has a violent criminal history including convictions dating back to 2010 for robbery inflicting serious bodily injury dating back to 2010 for which he was sentenced 2-5 years in state prison and simple assault in a case occurring while Smith was in locked up. In that case a felony charge of assault by a prisoner was dismissed as part of a plea bargain.
Earlier this year Smith was sentenced to 12-24 months for charges going back to October of 2017 included terroristic threats with the intent to terrorize another. Other charges including stalking were dismissed as part of a plea deal.
