PA Game Commission asking for help to identify person who beheaded, removed claws from bear hit in accident

Harrisburg, PA

A male black bear, weighing approximately 500 pounds, was recently hit on State Route 8 South, north of Barkeyville, in Venango County. This occurred during the overnight hours of Wednesday, September 25, 2019 according to the Pennsylvania Game Commission

The dead bear was reported after it was hit and when State Game Warden Daniel Carl arrived at the scene, it was discovered the bear’s head and paws had been removed.

If anyone has any information, or happened to see any vehicles pulled over in the area, specifically between the hours of 2-4 a.m., you are asked to report it to the Operation Game Thief Hotline at 1-888-PGC-8001.
