Williamsport Denny’s Restaurant blows inspection, “mold like substance on the gasket for the lid in the ice cream freezer” 7 violations

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on December 1, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Denny’s Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 7 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • An open employee’s beverage container was observed on preparation line by the hot hold unit.
  • An insect control device located in ware wash area with potential to contaminate food, equipment, and / or utensils. Corrected on site
  • Stainless pan used to store utensils was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. Corrected on site
  • Old food residue, dishes and utensils observed in the hand wash sink, indicating uses other than hand washing.
  • Observed soil accumulation on the floors of both walk-in coolers.
  • Food residue on the top and bottom of cold hold unit on the prep line. Corrected on site
  • Observed food residue on tray track in the walk-in cooler.
  • Food residue in the interior of the microwaves.
  • Observed mold like substance on the gasket for the lid in the ice cream freezer.
  • Observed frozen splattering on boxes with food product from cooling unit in walk-in freezer.
