The Hanover Township Police Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash into a building on West End Road where police say the driver fled the scene on foot.
Authorities say the driver was located by police running along Colley Street, where he was subsequently apprehended and was identified as Joshua George Hallas.
Police learned that Hallas had an active adult probation warrant. He was transported to The Luzerne County Correctional Facility for the warrant. Charges are pending for violations related to the crash.
Court records show the 36 year old Hallas has a history of 24 cases in the Courts of Common Pleas in Luzerne and Lehigh Counties since 2000.
Here are just some of those charges. In each case Hallas accepted a plea with charges reduced or dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
March 18, 2018– arrested retail theft. Placed into treatment court in November 2018.
September 19, 2016– Access Device Issued to Another Who Did Not Authorized to Use. Placed into treatment court in October 2018
November 14, 2013- Accident Involving Damage Attended Vehicle/Propery. Placed on 12 months probation in January 2015.
August 1, 2011– Conspiracy – Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, a felony, and related charges, placed in an intense probation program
