A victim contacted police after receiving a phone call from a male identifying himself as the attorney representing the victim’s grandson stating the grandson was involved in a DUI accident and needed bail money.
Police say the victim was instructed to send cash by UPS to an address in New Jersey as soon as possible and not to tell anyone. Police contacted the grandson and verified he was okay and no money was sent.
Authorities are reminding people to speak to your elderly family members and neighbors and inform them of these phone scams and not send any money. If anyone has questions contact your local police department.
