The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on January 31, 2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations DW’s Delis and Hoagies was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 7 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility did not have on hand quaternary ammonium test strips used for determining adequate sanitizer concentrations.
  • Observed numerous rodent-like droppings in the following areas of food facility: On flooring behind chest freezers located in upper dry storage area and on flooring below pallets in small dry storage alcove (also inside upper dry storage area).
  • Observed lettuce being stored in direct contact with chicken boxes located inside 2-door cooling unit of main grill area. *Corrected*
  • Observed grease and food litter located on flooring below deep fry units.
  • Observed steady leak located on 3-bay sink faucet.
  • Soiled in-use fly strip hung directly above facility hand wash sink. *Corrected*
  • The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of the PA Food Code as evident by the violations observed in this inspection report.
