The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on November 5, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Food Court at the Galleria in Lake Harmon was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 8 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Increased monitoring and oversight by the person-in-charge is necessary due to the number of risk factor items noted during review.
  • Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration.
  • Chlorine chemical sanitizer residual detected in the final sanitizer rinse cycle of the low temperature sanitizing dishwasher in the bar area was o ppm, and not 50-100 ppm as required.
  • Microwave oven, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. Microwave was cleaned and sanitized during this inspection.
  • Dirt residue forming around outside of cover inside ice machine bin. Machine was cleaned and sanitized during this inspection.
  • Deli slicer, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch.Deli slicer was cleaned and sanitized during this inspection.
  • Old food residue observed in the hand wash sink, indicating uses other than hand washing.
  • Bulk container of flour not labeled as to content.
  • Scoop was left in product. Utensils are to have handles.
  • Commercially processed refrigerated, ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food, located in the reach in cold hold unit in the food prep area, and held more than 24 hours, is not being marked with the date it was opened. Food was date marked correctly during this inspection.
