Canton Borough Police Officer arrested by Pennsylvania State Police-4th arrest since 2010

Joshua Gleco has 3 previous arrested in Luzerne County

State Police out of the Towanda Barracks, last night January 29, 2019, arrested Canton Borough Police officer Joshua Robert Gleco, aged 27 for charges relating to sexual abuse of a child occurring, allegedly, in the course of his duties. 

State Police released a statement on this matter saying: 

The accused met the victim in the performance of his duties as a Canton Borough Police officer. The accused then began an inappropriate relationship with the victim. During the course of this investigation the accused’s cellular phone was seized and sent to the PSP Computer Crimes Unit for forensic evaluation. That examination yielded images deemed to be child pornography, dozens of illegally recorded phone calls with local businesses, agencies and people. Furthermore, that examination yielded  recorded conversations with the juvenile in which lewd and sexually explicit language is used. Lastly, it yielded inappropriate images of the accused and the juvenile victim in inappropriate interaction.

Gleco was charged with:

  • 3 counts Felony Wiretap
  • 4 counts Felony Sexual Abuse of Children
  • 1 count misdemeanor Corruption of Minors

Gleco was arraigned yesterday before Magisterial District Judge Larry J. Hurley and remains jailed unable to make $200,000 bond. he faces a preliminary hearing February 6, 2019 at 1PM before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox.

On July 3, 2012 Gleco was arrested by Harveys Lake Borough Police for offenses they accused happened on April 12, 2012:

  • Disorderly Conduct Engage in Fighting
  • Terroristic Threats W/ Int To Terrorize Another
  • Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact
  • Make Repairs/Sell/Etc Offense Weapon
  • Resist Arrest/Other Law Enforcement

Those charges were dropped the following month on August 9, 2012. 

Wilkes-Barre City Police also arrested Gleco in 2012 for an incident they say occurred on April 28, 2012. In that case Gleco was charged with the following offenses:

  • Felony Aggravated Assault
  • Simple Assault
  • Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact

In that case the felony assault charge was dismissed at the District Court level. At the Court of Common Pleas Gleco made a deal with the Luzerne County District Attorney’s officer and was given Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition on the Simple Assault charge. Gleco pleaded guilty to the summary Harassment charge and paid a fine.

In 2010 Harveys Lake Borough Police arrested Gleco for the following charges for an incident they say occurred October 24, 2010:

  • Terroristic Threats W/ Int To Terrorize Another
  • Make Repairs/Sell/Etc Offense Weapon
  • Recklessly Endangering Another Person
  • Simple Assault
  • Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact

All charges were dropped in that case.
