Gay Erb arrested for Endangering Welfare of Children after 17 year old shot in the face in July

Lancaster, PA

On Thursday, July 4, 2019, at approximately 6:20PM Manor Township Police were called to a residence in the 500 block of Capri Road for a shooting involving a male that sustained a gunshot wound to the face.  As police entered the residence to render aid to the victim, they reported detecting the odor of burnt Marijuana coming from within the residence.  Police encountered a 17 year old juvenile male victim with a gunshot wound to the face.

In the room with the juvenile victim, were two other juvenile females.  The male juvenile victim was transported from the residence to a local hospital for treatment for the gunshot wound.  While in the bedroom with the juvenile victim, police observed suspected raw Marijuana, live ammunition and other drug paraphernalia in plain view.

Police spoke to the owner of the home, Gay Erb, who police say told them knowingly allowed the juvenile victim to smoke marijuana in the home and indicated that the gun involved belonged to her and indicated that she does not secure the weapon to limit access to it.

According to authorities  police learned that the 17-year-old victim had accidentally shot himself in the face while handling the firearm within 10 feet of two other teenage juvenile females.

As a result of the investigation, Officer Andrew Long with assistance from Detective Matthew Wolf, has charged the owner of the home Gay Erb with 1 count of Endangering the Welfare of Children.
