Bicyclist injured Saturday in Lititz not expected to survive

Lititz, PA

Police are investigating a vehicle crash Saturday in Lititz that seriously injured a woman who was riding a bicycle. The woman, 73, is at an area hospital and not expected to survive.

Authorities are not releasing her name or the name of the vehicle driver involved in the collision. The vehicle driver is a 38-year-old man from Lititz. Lititz police are investigating, in consultation with the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office.

The vehicle, a Volkswagen, and bicycle collided on South Broad Street (Route 501) around 1:35 p.m. Police say information gathered thus far indicates the bicyclist was traveling west on East Second Avenue and attempted to cross Broad Street onto West Second Avenue. The vehicle driver was headed east on West Second Avenue and turning left to head north on South Broad Street. The bicycle struck the passenger side of the vehicle. Both the driver and bicyclist had a green light.
