Police in Harrisburg Police on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 6:48PM responded to the area of N 7th and Schuylkill Streets for the report of a vehicle crash with entrapment. Police and Fire personnel arrived to find the vehicle fully engulfed in fire. Officers say they observed that the three occupants of the vehicle had been removed from the vehicle by bystanders who had dragged them away from the vehicle before it was fully engulfed by fire.
Authorities say two individuals, 40-year-old Eugene Jackson and 46-year-old Alfonso Hawkins were pronounced deceased on scene. The third individual was transported to Holy Spirit Hospital for medical treatment and police say the third person was the driver.
At this time police say, it is known that the vehicle was travelling south on 7th Street at an accelerated speed sufficient to shear a utility pole which caused the vehicle to catch on fire.
The accident is still under investigation. Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Harrisburg Police.
