Red Cross recognizes firefighter, DHL employee who saved co-worker following heart attack

Mechanicsburg, PA

The Red Cross recently recognized the actions of Upper Allen Township firefighter of Joe Heffelfinger who put his training to work in November when a colleague at his employer, DHL, suffered a heart attack at work. Heffelfinger’s quick actions are credited with saving the life of his co-worker.

Heffelfinger said, “November 29, 2018 will be a day that I remember for a very long time. It was a day where the lives of some changed. I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time during the work day. The individual was someone I am close with and always have conversations with anytime I see them during the day. We now share a special bond and I am very grateful that I can continue to talk to this individual.”
