New York teacher arrested for sexual assault involving student at hotel on trip to Hershey in June

Harrisburg, PA

On June 14, 2019,  Swatara Township Police received a report that between May 17th and 18th, Joseph A Gallagher, a teacher from Smithtown New York,  had sexual relations with a juvenile at a hotel in Swatara Township while on a school trip to Hershey.   Gallagher was arrested and charged on September 27, 2019, follow the completion of the police investigation. Gallagher was released on unsecured $50,000 bond.

The charges Gallagher faces are:

School – Intercourse/Sexual Contact with Student
Unlawful Contact With Minor – Sexual Offenses
Dissemination of  Explicit Sex Mataerial to a Minor
Unlawful Contact With Minor – Obscene and Other Sexual Materials and Performances
Corruption Of Minors – Defendant Age 18 or Above
Criminal Use Of Communication Facility
