Swatara Township Middle School teacher arrested on corruption of minor charge

Harrisburg, PA

On Thursday, February 7, 2019, the Central Dauphin School District administrative staff notified the Swatara Township Police of a reported incident of inappropriate conduct by a teacher at the Swatara Middle School. 

Swatara Police Detectives initiated an immediate investigation during which they were assisted by the Central Dauphin School District administration staff and their school police officer.  Police say the school district personnel worked cooperatively in this investigation and assisted the Detectives in their investigation. 

Police say their investigation found that Ian Kauffman, a teacher at the Swatara Middle School and East High School soccer coach, engaged in conduct that constituted corruption of minors and has charged with one count of Corruption of Minors graded as a Misdemeanor 1 offense. 

The charges were sent summons and a preliminary hearing will be held at a future date.
