North Middleton Police arrest man following head on collision driving under the influence controlled substance

Carlisle, PA

On February 25, 2019, at 7:05AM police say Matthew Sheaffer, 24 years old of Carlisle, was driving his vehicle in the 1800 block of Spring Road and drove into oncoming traffic causing a head on collision.

Police say the driver and passengers in the struck vehicle were injured and transported to local hospitals.

According to police Sheaffer was also injured and transported to Holy Spirit Hospital.

A subsequent investigation by North Middleton Township Police determined that Sheaffer was under the influence of drugs and in possession of drug paraphernalia at the time of the crash.

Charges were filed against Sheaffer, and he was arrested Tuesday, March 26, 2019.

The charges in the case are:

Aggravated Assault By Vehicle While DUI
Driving Under the Influence Controlled Substance
Reckless Endangering Another Person
Simple Assault
