The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services visited the Sunoco on Union Deposit Road in Harrisburg on March 3, 2019, for a retail food inspection. The inspector determined the store was out of compliance with the Pennsylvania Food Code after citing the convenience store with three violations. The inspector noted a new owner has taken over the store.

Comments made by the inspector included the following:

  • Facility does not have an approved sanitizer for ware-washing coffee pots.
  • Observed accumulation of old rodent droppings, trash, debris and damaged shelving units under the coffee service area.
  • Observed ice melting salt on a table storing single-use cups.

The three violations were serious enough, in this case, to determine the store to be designated as, “Out of Compliance.”
