A man out on probation for a felony gun charge was sentenced yesterday, after pleading guilty, to spend 114 to 240 months, or nine-and-a-half to 20 years in state prison by Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas Judge David Lupas.

On November 16, 2017, the West Pittston Police and the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office arrested 38 year old Mendel Fernandes Jr. Fernandes was arraigned on charges of Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, Statutory Sexual Assault, Aggravated Sexual Assault and Corruption of Minors. 

Earlier this year Fernandes pled guilty to one count each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and corruption of minors in May.
